So after the Spanish, Italian have picked up a similar taste for banning pencil like models. I say thats a positive change. After all these so called models do not contribute much to the society. Their influence clearly translates to..save a few pennies by eating fewer cheese burgers. Perhaps, we should stay tuned for enviromentalist picking up the opputunity to portray the positives like..by eating less one is making less trips to the Mc Donalds and super markets saving gas and hence its global warming side effect. To hell with them.

Right, back to man subject.. So why do designers hire these super skinny models??
A number of reason but I can think of a few..

1. Meals in five stars is really expensive..so a for a skinny model it something like 2-3 meals per week compared to 3x7 = 21 meals per week for a healthy person.
2. That hand weaved Italian wool with gold and silver strings blah blah blah cost like $10000 per yard. And for one time wearing that is real waste of money..so on skinny models its less cloth to cut, waste and stich.
3. Then is the transport and petrol factor. 170lbs atleast for a 5'8 healthy model times 3 of them in each limo = 510lbs which is a lot when you shove off 360 lbs by hiring 50lb models only. That translates to a lot of saving in petrol.
4. The resistance factor.. non-cooperating healty person is likely to fight back aggresively..A pencil can be packed in a suitcase and made to cooperate.

Well Ms. Skinny you are not doing any better than grossing out all men there..and spoling the taste of entire human race..I would like to shoot you for this societical genocide..
