Unfit Workplaces for Women
Najah Alosaimi, Arab News
Source: http://arabnews.com/?article=96333
RIYADH, 18 May 2007 — While health and safety at work are the basic requirements that employees demand, many workingwomen in the Kingdom find environments at their workplaces detrimental to their health.
Having separate workplaces for men and women has been the norm in the Kingdom since women first began to work outside their homes in the early 1970s. The Kingdom, particularly in Riyadh, operates a strict system to ensure working women enjoy their privacy and are not subjected to harassment by men.
A general impression made is that men are out there looking for every opportunity to harras women. Pull her hair, tease her and throw their phone number on her. isn't this the mentality infested by government has hurt the country economy and youth right in the nuts as confessed by interior minister. I mean come are these women any different from those in Europe, America and rest of Middle east??? what kind of ubber privacy requirement do these women have. The kind of ultimate secrecy they demand is a notion of plain prostitution.
But, at many women’s banks, educational institutions and salons, windows are often blackened and some workplaces also lack emergency exits. Employers justify these actions by saying they are simply giving women privacy. However, a lack of emergency exits could be something disastrous in case of an emergency.
Well privacy or better say secrecy comes at a cost!!
“Regulations set by the Labor Ministry stipulate that workplaces should be safe and fully equipped with safety features for all employees,” said Muhammad Al-Dwaish, legal consultant with the Labor Ministry, adding that the regulations are for both genders.
But since women demand secrecy, how can you get away without blackened windows and sealed exits??
Dr. Mona Sawaf, a psychiatrist specializing in women’s health, told Arab News that health and safety regulations should not be compromised in the name of women’s privacy. (read "secrecy")
“Women’s privacy can also be achieved in a way that ensures a safe and healthy environment so that they feel comfortable when working. This does not mean that women should be locked in separate rooms,” she said.
She added, “Unfortunately, most workers spend up to a quarter of the day indoors in improper environments with synthetic ventilation systems that negatively affect their health.”
Dr. Abdullah Al-Johar, an orthopedic consultant at the Prince Faisal Sports Medical Hospital, said, “A working environment with no fresh air and sunlight can become a long-term threat to someone’s health. Research shows that there is a direct connection between remaining indoors and developing illnesses relating to the weakness of bones and muscles.”
Al-Johar also feels that women, who remain in closed environments for a long time, need to ensure they take appropriate intakes of vitamins B and D.
Poor working environments also affect the performance of women employees. Raedah Al-Motairy, a financial consultant in the ladies branch of a bank in Riyadh, said, “Poor working environments affect women’s productivity. Working in isolation makes women feel unwanted and makes them feel they are working undercover.”
According to Al-Motairy, having a pleasant and safe working environment is good for business. “A healthy working environment raises employees’ morale. Often when walking through women’s departments, you feel entirely different. Tension also seems to be much higher there.”
Dalal Al-Ogdah, a Health Ministry worker, said, “The current working environment that is designed exclusively for women does not match the high-profile roles of many women. It’s wrong to justify these abusive practices in the name of giving women privacy. This concept has been misused by many people.”
Or lets say the state official religion advised that. There is a popular power point presentation circulating on internet with authentic hadith saying a cursed man is one who touches palm of unrelated women. With such hatred bred into a generation of men against half of country population is not likely to be washed off so easily.

Praise for ghost role of women in society
Source: Arab News
JEDDAH, 3 December 2006 — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah yesterday commended Saudi women for their active participation in the Kingdom’s development.
Yes with 6.1 percent work force they are really contributing a lot..
“Saudi women are playing a great role,” said Abdullah. “They make fruitful contributions toward the country’s comprehensive progress in various sectors,” he added.
That is why we boot them out of seminars and sentence their employers to 90 lashes.
Abdullah made this comment while receiving women participants of the Sixth National Dialogue Forum at his palace in Riyadh separately.
We all know the National Dialogue Forum is just an endless loop of nonsense arguments designed to camouflage the reality. A smoke screen in front of international media design to keep the reformists calm.
“During their meeting with the king, the women voiced their views on the forum’s topic and other issues concerning them. They thanked the king for his efforts to empower women and strengthen their role in society,” the Saudi Press Agency said.
To be able to participate in the forum, you have to proficient in Islam, a figurative way of saying "you must bear a well conservative mind and respect Saudi customs". In other words, a person bearing the slightest taste of human rights will not get admitted into the forums.
Earlier while speaking to both men and women participants, the king urged them to provide the government with necessary advice and guidance. “Those who do not work will not make any mistakes. Those who work will make mistakes, but one should try to avoid such mistakes,” the king said about government officials.
But when those "mistakes" are well intended and in fact supported by the government by discriminative laws then they are acceptable. So what happens when a woman gets rape..she gets 90 lashes.
He praised Saudis for their commitment to the nation, religion and work.
And with the Moral Police and Imam University..it just got better..When is the next plane hijack??
Saleh Al-Hosain, president of the forum, said Islam promotes peaceful coexistence of different communities, allowing others to protect their values and cultural identity. Some 120 verses of the Qur’an condemn bloodletting, all types of wars and subversive activities. “It has allowed only one type of war that is morally justified, stands for justice and considers human values. It is jihad,” he explained.
Yes indeed therefore following the teaching of Islam like good Muslims we are, we prohibit the non-muslims from celebrating their events and conducting their prayer. And punish them when they get caught doing to. Despite the fact that Saudi's need them to sustain their vital economic activity of "oil" and pay them head over heels to work in the Kingdom.
Al-Hosain presented a copy of the forum’s recommendations to the king and Crown Prince Sultan (to be used as toilet paper or to roll shawarma in.)
In her speech, Laila bint Abdul Kareem Al-Juhaiman, associate professor at King Saud University, said the three-day forum in Sakaka was successful in drafting a futuristic vision of education in the Kingdom. She praised Abdullah’s efforts to promote the Kingdom’s educational standard by opening new universities and colleges across the country.
If the education cannot cater to local enonomic and labour demands, then its useless and in next 99 years the education system can be expected to meet these milestones. Meantime "Vive Le Imam Université"

Enough with human rights..now god given rights!!
The Saudi Government belives that Saudi gene pool is "holier than thou" best of all human civilization, therefore it should be polluted by copulating with forigeners. In other words, they feel compelled to stop the spread of genetic stupidity around the world which prevails in Saudi's generation to generation.

Punishing Saudis for Marrying Foreigners Is Absurd
Abeer Mishkhas, abeermishkhas@arabnews.com
Source: Arab News
THERE ARE many ways of dealing with problems. Some require laws while others need only awareness, but in Saudi Arabia it seems the easiest way out is to ban the problem from happening. Needless to say, banning never works but it still remains our favorite solution.
Three years ago there was a campaign to dissuade Saudis from marrying non-Saudis. The campaign aimed at enlightening people about the negative aspects of going outside the Kingdom’s borders and choosing a partner. The study deservedly earned the disdain of many at the time. It failed to solve anything that its proponents saw as problems nor did it reduce the number of Saudis who wanted to marry non-Saudis.
Now lets see why Saudi men don't want to marry Saudi Women. The first idea which strikes mind is that a man never gets to meet a woman in Saudi Arabia. In fact meeting a Saudi women would be more of a poetic fancy than reality. Therefore he is very likely to get carried away with his Indonesian maid or the woman he met during his vacation destination. Considering that he doesn't have to wait for the approval of entire bride's family and pay extravagated marriage expenses and dowry, a forigen bride becomes a more economically favorable option.
This week, I was shocked to see an interview with an official in a local paper. He was speaking about this very issue and the interview began with a denial that the numbers of Saudis marrying foreign women/men had reached “alarming” levels. The official stated that the ministry had put in place measures and guidelines to limit the “negative and harmful aspects of such marriages.”
The interviewer then asked what would be done if someone took the step of actually marrying a non-Saudi without taking official permission. Following are the measures:
* Disciplinary action against the Saudi;
* Not allowing the marriage to be registered as legal in the Kingdom;
* Not granting an entrance visa to the foreigner — either wife or husband — and if the wife or husband are already in the Kingdom, then their residency is terminated.
Now I wonder where is the Ministry of Vice and Virtue gone!!!..They should really come on and scare the minister aganist the punishment in hell he will get for crafting such laws. Ohh but wait..the muttawas are too busy chasing unveiled women on the streets!
Heavy measures indeed! One would think that whoever was punished so harshly was a serious and hardened criminal. In truth, he or she is simply someone who tried to live his or her life within his or her rights as a human being. Now I understand and accept that there are procedures to be followed before visas can be issued and residency can be given to non-Saudis, but these things should not encroach upon people’s God-given rights. In several cases, women choose to marry men from abroad and they are entitled to judge for themselves if they are making the right choice.
In our family-oriented society in which a family’s consent for a marriage is necessary, if the man and woman marry with the family’s blessing and approval, that should be enough for everybody. Taking the matters to a higher level than the family concerned and turning the marriage into an international affair that requires official permission is complicating things unnecessarily and I wonder how such can be Islamically justified.
There is an Islamic solution to this problem. Enforce every man to take four wives..How nice..sorry to say but Islam just seem to worsen the problems..
I know of several cases in which women had to wait for years to get permission, even though they had the consent of their families.
To look for a moment at the matter from another perspective, there are many undecided cases in the courts of Saudi women who have filed for divorce from their Saudi husbands. In many of those cases, the women have been abused and sometimes denied access to their children. For whatever reason, many of those cases, involving only Saudis, have not been resolved and it seems that few of those who should are actually trying to find legal ways and solutions.
But it is between the Saudi's so its ok. Incase you have missed it earlier..the Saudi's are holier tha thou and being decendents of the holy prophet..they are all laws spared..pardoned at every deed...
Some Saudi men have also had bad experiences when they married women from outside the country; for sure, marrying a Saudi is not always guaranteed to work wonders or to result in blissful happiness. At the same time, there are cases in which “mixed marriages” (between a Saudi and a non-Saudi) have outlasted many Saudi-only marriages. It seems that this brings us yet again to an idea that has been sadly prevalent in the Kingdom for some time — that we Saudis are special and different. We are not but we like to deceive ourselves.
Isn't the entire Saudi culture is based on deception??? and lets not forget the religion of peace..
I remember a friend who was trying to get permission to marry a non-Saudi. She waited for two years before discovering that the documents were locked in some official’s drawer simply because he thought she should not marry outside her tribe and country. Only by pulling some strings was she finally able to get her papers processed and marry the man of her choice.
Her case has always made me wonder: Why do people need to postpone their lives and decisions for the sake of a man-made law that should not even exist?
If prophet could control destiny of hundred of people and the people of Hejaz agreed with him without an objection...then you shouldn't really complain about the ministry official. He is doing his duty as allocated to him by his government and religion. That is moral and societal guarding.
Sorry you are not getting any of your Human or God Given rights in this country until that Holy book is thrown out of constitution..
Luck or curse!!!

BAHA, 29 November 2005 — Four Saudi women teaching in a remote village school have married their driver so they can live closer to work, Al-Watan newspaper said yesterday. The women from Al-Baha were impressed with the man’s “good morals” and decided to marry him and live together in the village where they teach — avoiding a tiring daily commute. They were married in a short ceremony, and have agreed to pay the driver a share of their monthly salaries.
=================================================================
1. He gets four young women..lets wish they are not ugly!!
2. He gets a share out of their salaries. Free money!!
Now the obvious reality, in this mentally retarded genetically molested nation..four women couldn't manage to live by themselves and were forced to marry a man they had no intention of every loving..leave alone blowing his dirty weiner all night long..

more anti-unemployment propogands
P.K. Abdul Ghafour, Arab News
JEDDAH,
22 November 2006 — Labor Minister Ghazi Al-Gosaibi yesterday announced a 25-year strategy to fight unemployment among Saudis, which according to latest official estimates, is 9.1 percent among men and 26.3 percent among women.
Ohh come on, first you put the men statstics into the women court. Then you reverse the women employment percent and stick it on to men as the unemployment percent. I did better than that in my stats class. Mr. Gosaibi your yearly plans are known to fail in days of going effect so make sure you aim right with 25 years. It looks a lot delusional to me!!
“We will implement 26 policies through 108 mechanisms in order to reduce unemployment in the short- and long-terms,” he said.
And where exactly are those 108 mechanism??? I mean i haven't seen more than Jawazat and Labour Ministry when it comes to mechanisms of labours
The minister called for stringent measures to cut the unemployment rate and for reducing the country’s addiction to foreign labor.
Ok, and those measures are???
“The unemployment problem is a major challenge,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted Gosaibi as saying. “It cannot be dealt with while the country’s doors are open to hundreds of thousands of expatriate workers every year.” Gosaibi attributed the employment problem to the low qualifications of job seekers, incompatibility of their educational qualifications with job-market requirements, lack of readiness on the part of some private companies to apply Saudization policies, and low salaries offered by private firms.
Well expatriate labours exisits to full fill your needs. Business hire expartiate labours for three reasons
1. Qualifications
2. Cheap rate
3. Exploitability & Control with your slave like iqama rules
If you close the doors of forigen labour, the businessmen gonna sack their money and move. And this is what pretty much happening. Not a good move when Saudi's are begging for some forigen investment. Regarding the qualifications of Saudi work force, yeah right Quran graduates aren't good for anything execpt moral police and terrorists.
“Fighting unemployment will remain the ministry’s priority,” Gosaibi said. “Ending unemployment is essential in the light of the new statistics.” The minister was referring to a study conducted by the General Statistics Department on work force in the Kingdom.
He spoke about the ministry’s nationwide campaign to provide employment for nationals. “Among some 155,000 Saudi job seekers registered with us during the campaign we have found employment for about 133,000 people by August of this year,” he pointed out.
What an accomplishment that you found out jobs for them. 90% of them were absorbed brute forced by the private sector to fill in their saudization quotas. The remaining 10% got placements as guards and moaqqibs. Misson accomplished, though these kind of employments dont really fullfill any demands of labour market.
Referring to the ministry’s efforts to cut foreign recruitment, Gosaibi said the number of recruitment visas issued annually declined from 597,000 visas in 2002 to 353,000 last year. He said the unemployment rate did not reflect the Kingdom’s current robust economic growth.
The Kingdom plans to build massive economic cities across the country as part of its efforts to achieve regional development and create more jobs for its citizens. The four economic cities already launched in Rabigh, Hail, Madinah and Jizan aim at attracting SR300 billion ($80 billion) in investment and generating at least one million new jobs.
You need forigen engineers to design, plan and execute those cities. Then cheap labour from Indian Subcontient for constructing it. Ohh and no to mention, the company constructing and investing in them is forigen too.. Emaar Properties of UAE.??
In a recent statement, Crown Prince Sultan emphasized the government’s resolve to fight unemployment. “The new educational and infrastructure projects ordered by the king reflect his desire to achieve balanced growth in all parts of the country,” he said. “The new projects will also create job opportunities for thousands of young Saudis. As a result, there will not be any unemployed among Saudi youth as all of them will be provided jobs within the next five years.” The Human Resource Development Fund has played a significant role in providing employment for Saudis in cooperation with the private sector. “The fund has so far trained and employed 144,450 Saudis during the past years,” Gosaibi said.
Does everything has to come from the king?? I mean do Saudi people really don't have their own common sense and coscience. I mean this is the same royal king to forcedfully made every Saudi a Quran Graduate so they would become women hating, jihand mongering turban head terrorists.
He referred to the ministry’s efforts in dealing with false Saudization claims (when employers fabricate their Saudi employment quotas) and illegal visa transactions as well as imposing Saudization regulations. He said the ministry would continue its efforts to expand job opportunities for women in the light of a Cabinet decision that had also called for developing a partnership between the ministry and the private sector.
Or how about the other way around. Companies claming false saudization because you are simply brute forcing it onto them and they simply cant find enound turban heads to fill the seats???
Honestly speaking, this article was total rubbish and idiotic even as a propoganda. While it uncovers zero useful details, its just exploiting the human instinct of keeping hope and goes on and on repeating the same mantra followed by false statics. The truth is that Saudi labour force cannot developed until this culture of opression is wiped clean. Until your men will stop wasting youth chasing women, keeping an eye on their sisters and daughters and being their chaperone for life. Otherwise there is too little time left to work for them.

What makes her so special about posing semi-nude that every news website had to carry a news story about her in the most twisted and erotic language they can??? oh may be because the is releated to Osama and is a Saudi origin. Perhaps she can be a candinate for my website www.nakedsaudigirls.com . Or wait, dont bother she is really really ugly and doesnt deserve a look. Well Wafa, we all know you are trying to earn cheap 15 seconds of fame by using your "famous" uncle's name and thats is why you keep bring it up in every statement of yours. NAKED SAUDI GIRLS
So i shell out a few bucks last night and registered myself the domain nakedsaudigirls.com. Yeah ok it sounds pornographic. But "naked saudi girls" is one of the most popular search term on google. From inside Saudi Arabia as well as from outside. It denotes the high intrest of internet surfers with naked saudi girls. Especially those who are inside Saudi Arabia, probably because they see them all covered head to toe all the time, the curosity gets them best to peek under the veils and internet is the best place to start with. But not under veils of saudi women, sorry to dissapoint you, internet surfers.
In reality, there is no website on the internet featuring "naked saudi girls". Atleast not one in my knowledge upto date but if something like that does steps in future then sure im getting some big bucks for my domain. Not sure if i would be really intrested in selling it. I rather keep it as a brave gadget name. Perhaps a free mail service yourname@nakedsaudigirls.com might be a good tease or lure. The facination is that, finding "naked saudi girls" on the internet is nearly impossible if not totally impossible at the time of writting this blog.
Meantime, below is an article from Howard Musing blog published in Feburary 2003. This article comes as the first result on google when u query for "naked saudi girls"
I keep getting hits for the search term naked saudi girls. I understand the allure of naked Saudi girls -- well naked Saudi women, anyway. (I'll give the searcher the benefit of the doubt, and assume that he means "girls" in the red-light district "Girls! Girls! Girls!" sense.) There are no naked Saudi girls on the page it links to, nor (as far as I know) on this entire site, I wondered who might search Google and my site for naked Saudi girls, so I checked my site's log:
t1:/$ tail -400 /var/log/apache/path/to/access.log grep naked
OK, so the hit came from IP address 212.138.47.27.

My goodness, what a surprise! It comes from the jewel of Wahabbism, Saudi Arabia. And during the Hajj, no less. Clearly they have no shame. Where's the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice when you need it? Probably busy. Did you happen to notice this notice from above?

Most of Kingdom’s Internet Users Aim for the Forbidden
Raid Qusti, Arab News
Source: ArabNews
(Comments in blue colour text)
RIYADH, 2 October 2005 — Of the estimated 2.2 million Internet users in the Kingdom, the majority regularly try to access forbidden or indecent material, Arab News has learned.
“Of those who log on to the Internet, 92.5 percent are trying to access a website that, for one reason or another, has been blocked,” said Dr. Mishaal Al-Kadhi, acting general manager of the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST).
KACST is not only the Internet gateway for the Kingdom but also acts as a filter for unsuitable material. The official said that pornographic material was one of the main items on the city’s “black list” which also includes gambling, terrorism and politics as well as anything contrary to Islamic beliefs.
He said that since the royal decree was issued in 1998 choosing KACST as the gateway for the Internet in the Kingdom and authorizing it to act as a filter, a special committee had been set up to decide what should and should not be inaccessible.
“A permanent security panel was established for this purpose. It consisted of members from 10 ministries, headed by the Interior Ministry,” he explained. A year after the panel’s establishment, 85 percent of the material on the blocked sites was pornographic with the remaining being what was deemed “inappropriate” for the Kingdom.
Asked why he thought many of those who access the web in the Kingdom were looking for pornography, Al-Kadhi said that he did not believe the Kingdom was any different from other nations in the world regarding this phenomenon. He went on to note, however, that a new dangerous tendency has begun to sweep the Internet: People “have shifted from pornography to pedophilia.”
Common sense, they were looking for online pornography more than other nations because they dont get to see their own women!!
He said that according to statistics from different countries around the world, there had been a global increase in the demand for pedophilia on the Internet.
So what, forget the internet, pedophilia happen in Saudi Arabia on dirty dark streets, behind shopping malls, in dark tinted cars, inside police cars and stations at night, rest houses and resorts, etc, etc, you name it, these are just few examples.
“Pedophilia has become a major problem in many countries. In Germany alone there are 30,000 people addicted to pedophilia and 20,000 others who are its victims. There is even a nationwide campaign there that asks people, ‘Do you like children too much?’” he said. He said that there was a similar problem in Italy too.
Al-Kadhi said that according to a Swedish official responsible for filtering the Internet there, “after Sweden passed new laws in the year 2000 aimed at preventing people from having sex with children, many had turned to their pets.”
Ok this offical is a responsible for filtering the internet, not reporting the social behaviours of their country. Then what this person has got to do with non-internet activities and why the heck an internet authority would waste time and money to research on what their nation is having sex with after child-porn is blocked????? This is a job of ministry of social affairs and such statement should come from them, not an unnammed offical responsible for internet filtering.
He said that these bizarre sexual preferences were being fought by the European Union with new legislation. “The governments of many European countries are now using ‘safer Internet’ from which this kind of material is filtered.” No they dont belive in babying their citizen by blocking and filtering the internet, but they rather fight it with education and intelligence. Thousands of people and pedophillia rings have been busted and arrested since the champaign started somewhere in 2001 (not sure)
He pointed out that many committees were trying to increase public awareness of the phenomenon. “We (officials in Saudi Arabia) feel justified since we blocked this kind of thing from the very beginning and will continue to do so,” he said.
Yes but you did not mention many other non-pornographic material blocked. Do website preaching human right, forigen worker rights, women right, social freedom and health also qualify as pornopgraphic??? what about Google SafeSearch??? why do your enforce Google SafeSearch they redirecting??
Al-Kadhi said that KACST had received the Asia Pacific Information and Technology Award for providing the best software to block adult sites.
No, they did not recive any such Asia-Pacific Award. But i will satisfy their optimistism for award by giving a "Shame on You 2005" award.
The system uses “Robots,” a program that automatically blocks certain phrases on an adult website and has an accuracy of 99.9 percent, he said.
Dumbass, take a lesson in O'Level Computing. Robots is a term for web crawlers used to index website on keyword basis for various purpose such as listing in search engine or inclusion in black list of a flitering software. Perhaps i can question the validity of your MIS degree now??? And now to the more serious part, KACST does not use any program called Robot, or even a software utilizing robots. You are using a software called SmartFilter made by a US firm Secure Computing. Just a common sense note, if KACST/ISU was using any program based on keyword indexing, the so-called roboting method, then not only thousand of websites on the internet would prove it by their access log but also it would be much easier to keep your website out of KACST block list - by simply blocking the KACST/ISU robot aka crawler.
Asked about the blocking of sites that promote terrorism, he said that KACST works only as a technical agency and that it blocks such sites when it receives an order to do so from the Interior Ministry.
And what about the websites promoting the terrorism under the so-called phrase of Jihad or supporting sucide bombing and acts such. Dont you count that as terrorism.
He explained that KASCT did not screen personal e-mails and would not do so unless it received a request relating to national security from the ministry.
Commenting on the blocking of websites which would permit Internet users to access information about other religions such as Buddhism, Judaism and Christianity, the official said that there were no laws to ban those sites but that KACST naturally made mistakes like any other group or organization.
But KACST is not suppose to block any website until an order form higher authority is recieved to do so, then how this can be counted as a mistake. You are contradicting yourself Mr. Minister.
He said KACST had ignored requests from many people to block all religious sites except for Islamic ones. Any person, he added, may fill out a request concerning a blocked URL and send it to KACST, mentioning the reasons why the site should not be blocked.
Well in the past and even in present as i recall, many non-islamic religious websites were blocked, even those who did not insult islam, islamic teaching, Saudi Arabia and its monarchs.
“The request is reviewed within 24 hours,” Al-Kadhi added. He said KACST was not to blame for the slow Internet dial-up connections in the Kingdom, adding that the problem was with the Saudi Telecom Company lines.
Atleast this is true. But i am sick of Unresolved Host Name errors even when accessing common websites such as MSN, Google, etc etc..and even ArabNews.. they are sure not because of STC, are they??? Please fix your DNS cache now!!
R u a woman?? Never wait in long queues!!
Saudi Women Enjoy Special Treatment in Men’s Sections
Ebtihal Mubarak, Arab News
JEDDAH, 10 September 2005 — “No, don’t go to the bank that has the women’s section; drive to the other branch that only has a men’s section,” Sarah told her driver.
Her behavior is not unusual. For an increasing number of Saudi women, it’s actually preferred. They claim that they get better services at men’s sections at banks, restaurants and airports to name a few. No matter how crowded a place or how long the queue, women often are served first.
“They treat me like a princess at the bank’s men’s section,” Sarah said.
She told Arab News that as she sets foot in the bank, everyone offers help. The security guard asks what kind of service she wants and then personally guide her to the employee in charge. That employee will then motion to her to step up and ignore the queue. He will politely finish her request in a matter of seconds. She said that wouldn’t be the case in the women’s sections.
“Although women’s sections aren’t as crowded as the men’s, I usually spend more time there,” she said. “They’re very bureaucratic and obsessed with paperwork.”
Saudi men, on the other hand, find such attitudes unfair and obvious discrimination. They contend that as women demand equality, they should be treated as equal as the men in all matters. “They shouldn’t be given such privileges,” said an angry fast-food customer.
He said he could be driving in the heat for an hour and wait in the restaurant queue for about 20 minutes to buy his lunch while a woman sitting in the back seat of her car can just step in the restaurant and buy whatever she wants in a matter of seconds.
“If that isn’t discrimination, I don’t know what is,” he said.
Women who enjoy the special treatment don’t think of it as a privilege.
“It’s just an attitude that some men practice out of courtesy all over the world,” one woman said.
Most women asked by Arab News said if they were offered such help they would certainly accept it. “Most of the time we don’t demand to be served first,” one said. “If we have the chance why not?”

Now only if this country was not segrated, women wouldnt be enjoying this kind of previllage. The good thing is.. that i can always send a women to bank to pay my bill and guranteed she will be done in a matter of second opposed to me myself goin there and waiting hour or two in queue.

Stupidity at its best..
Bank Lost SR5 Million Because of Dress
DAMMAM, 1 August 2005 — A local Saudi bank in Dammam lost a very important customer because of the security guard interference, Okaz reported. The customer came to the bank wearing jeans and shirt and wanted to open an account and deposit SR5 million. The security guard prevented him from entering the bank saying that he would not allow him in because he was not wearing the national dress. Stunned and upset at the behavior of the security guard, the potential customer contacted the branch manger to tell him that he was about to deposit the money in their bank but he changed his mind.
Apparently a man was not permittied to deposit SR 5 Million in bank just because he was not wearing the saudi national dress. Stupidity at its best i must say and i wonder what happend to the guard's job after the man complained to bank manager. Next time i go to bank with a forged cheque, i think i will wear a saudi national dress. This may stop authorities from suspicion and should aviod any security checks. Oooh the magical saudi "national" dress.
Internet censor ship further stricted!!
To hell with saudi internet censorship!!
first we cried ages and ages for fast internet.. Now we have accecptable speeds of internet, something still not eligible to be classified as "fast". How ever censorship has gone way beyond tolerance. Basically ISU doesnt have any defined rules or sense of censorship. They will put anything in the block list which is declared evil or deviant by their god damn wahoobi mullahs.
Censorship has got soo stringent that website which barely have a pic or two of a girl in full dressed gets blocked immedeatly as soon as some stupid illetrate wahoobi saudi moron brings it to the ISU notice..
And now we have a new kind of suffering, filtering of search engine query strings and forcing a redirection. As a result surfers cant seem to disable safe search feature of many search engines such as google, yahoo, alltheweb, etc etc etc.. this kind of filter is yet not imposed in the smaller cities like Medina. So no matter how much you try disabling safe search, the google will keep showing you search results filter under strict safe search criteria.
What a waste of time and useless filter. strict safe search is soo useless, it even filters out website containing vulgar language commonly used over the internet in blogs and forums. So will never find what your were looking for.. sometimes not even generic information.
So, we the users of internet in Saudi Arabia are stuck with highly censored and controlled internet and cant do much about it unless and offcourse get a Sat Net (http://www.orbitsatnet.com/)
Well, im putting my last hopes on orbit sat net to bypass this insane censorship fully once for all, otherwise this stringent censorship has left the internet totally usless making saudi's more of an ass than they already are..
